The School Lucero Elementary School was founded in 52 years ago by Señora Eliana Brante . Since it’s foundation it has had a strong focus on personalized individual education. The class sizes are no larger than 15 students which allows teachers to work closely with students to reach their educational goals. Currently classes are held in the afternoon for students in grades 1st through 6th.

Volunteer The Lucero English Volunteer & Cultural Exchange Program is designed for college graduates to give them an opportunity to experience Chilean culture and the Spanish language while teaching children English in order to help them prepare for the demands of a globalized world.

We have openings for two volunteers in 5-10 month placements. The Chilean school year runs from March to December. You will be expected to teach three times a week in exchange for room and board. In addition we offer weekly spanish classes for those who are interested in learning and improving their Spanish language skills.

Please note that no Spanish is required for this program.

Location Colegio Lucero is a small school located in the heart of the avocado growing region in Central Chile. The city of La Calera is only an hour and a half on public transportation to the capital of Santiago and 45 minutes to the coastal town of Vina del Mar and Valapariso. With four days of a week we hope that this program allow plenty of free time to travel and explore Chile.
